Croydon Fashion Festival took place in June 2009 and was delivered by Croydon Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID) in partnership with key sponsors and supporters.
This year’s Croydon Fashion Festival came to a suitably exciting climax on Sunday 28 June, as the Croydon Business Improvement District (BID) Community Day Show was enjoyed by a big family based crowd in Whitgift Square, central Croydon.
Those in attendance were treated to a live performance by local girl band Diamond Chique followed by a vibrant live dance performance by youth dance group Dance Mode
From 2pm crowds enjoyed some more fantastic music from some local, up and coming acts in the Croydon Live Show, then the finale featured a spectacular Bollywood style performance from the Aspara Arts group.
Tramlink ran special workshops for children teaching them how to make original T-shirt designs and a series of 1 hour workshops in association with the Whitgift Weenies club, were based upon the theme of ‘Croydon Icons’.
“Croydon Fashion Festival 2009 has been an unparalleled success,” said Ros Morgan, BID Manager. “The free series of events attracted large numbers of shoppers to the Town Centre. Footfall was up by 20.9% on the average for 2009 so far and was the 3rd busiest week of the year to date. This is fantastic news for local business in a difficult financial climate. We’re very proud to have been able to put on such a good show and are looking forward to enjoying more success with the Croydon Food Festival which is coming up this autumn.”
